EQUALL – Addressing Gender-Based Violence

Piraeus and the Diotima Centre, for the third consecutive year, continue and expand their collaboration by implementing the initiative “EQUALL – Addressing Gender-Based Violence,” which aims to support women who have experienced or are experiencing gender-based violence.

The programme is developed across three pillars:

Awareness-raising and education on gender-based violence

Prevention of Gender-Based Violence through training/educational seminars for students and teaching staff in schools and universities, in Attica as well as in remote areas of Greece. The aim is to support approximately 1,000 students, 150 university students, and 50 members of teaching staff.

Psychosocial support

Provision of Psychological Support, offering access to free psychological support for survivors of gender-based violence—particularly in remote or non-urban areas—with the aim of supporting 45 women across the country.

Career counselling and empowerment

Career Counselling and Support for women seeking to regain their dignity and autonomy by breaking the cycle of violence, with the aim of supporting 50 women.

The initiative was designed to provide psychosocial support to women who have experienced gender-based violence.

Integration

The goal is to support the professional integration and reintegration of women who have experienced gender-based violence.

Prevention

Emphasis is placed on prevention through targeted awareness actions for the younger generation.

To date, the collaboration between Piraeus and the DIOTIMA Centre has contributed to changing the lives of 78 women who have received one or more of the programme’s services. At the same time, more than 1,350 women, students, and educators have benefited from the programme over the past two years
