Piraeus – MDA Hellas Partnership
Supporting individuals with neuromuscular diseases.
Piraeus Bank and MDA Hellas (Association for the Care of People with Neuromuscular Diseases) have joined forces to provide meaningful support and improve the quality of life of children and adults with neuromuscular diseases in Greece.
As part of this new partnership, Piraeus Bank supports the operation of the Neuromuscular Diseases Unit of the Second Pediatric Clinic of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – AHEPA Thessaloniki University General Hospital. Since 2007, the Unit has been providing comprehensive medical and psychosocial care to more than 400 patients from across Northern Greece, Thessaly, Epirus, and the North Aegean islands.
The Unit is staffed by a specialized multidisciplinary team and serves both pediatric and adult patients with neuromuscular diseases. The ongoing support of MDA Hellas has been vital to its daily operation, offering psychological and social support as well as technical and material assistance.
MDA Hellas is a charitable, non-profit association dedicated to the care of individuals with neuromuscular diseases. It was founded in Athens in January 2000 with the aim of improving their living conditions.
Its primary mission is to support people—mostly young individuals—living with neuromuscular diseases, helping them integrate and actively participate in all aspects of social life.
Today, more than 1,900 families are registered with the association.
