EQUALL STEM Labs
An initiative to establish innovative Inquiry-Based Learning Centres in schools across the regions, with the aim of providing students with hands-on learning opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
EQUALL STEM Labs is carried out in collaboration with Together for the Child, which works to ensure that every child in Greece has access to decent living conditions and equal opportunities.
Today, the following Inquiry-Based Learning Centres have been inaugurated and operate:
- 10th Primary School of Komotini,
- 2nd Primary School of Xanthi,
- 13th Primary School of Xanthi, and
- 14th Primary School of Xanthi.
These are four of the most crowded schools in the wider area, with a total enrolment of over 1,180 students.
The Inquiry-Based Learning Centres are state-of-the-art classrooms specially equipped for teaching biology, geology, physics, mathematics, geometry, geography, renewable energy, engineering, and educational robotics.
As part of this initiative, Piraeus, in collaboration with 100mentors, has created the Train the Trainer programme, which includes workshops and training activities for teachers and students on how to make effective use of the Inquiry-Based Learning Centres.
