Digital Autonomy 60+

Enhancing lifelong learning, digital literacy, and the active engagement of people over 60 in social, cultural, and economic life.

Digital Autonomy 60+ is a training programme designed to enhance the digital literacy of individuals aged 60+, contributing to improvements in:

  • their daily life,
  • the security of their transactions, and
  • their basic financial management.

Through hands-on practice, participants gain the necessary skills to use technology with greater confidence, independence, and safety in their personal and social lives.

What the Programme includes
The programme consists of two annual cycles:

First cycle: Includes two groups. One group will attend in a hybrid format (the first lesson in person and the remaining lessons online) in Heraklion, Crete. The second group will be conducted entirely online and is open to participants aged 60+ from all over Greece.

Second cycle: Also includes two groups and will be delivered entirely online for participants aged 60+ across Greece.

The training lasts 2.5 months, and each group completes 20 hours of lessons.

The programme covers three main areas:

1. Digital Literacy & Communication
Familiarization with the use of mobile phones, tablets, or computers and basic digital applications (such as email and communication apps), helping participants meet everyday needs and stay connected with family and social circles.

2. Digital Security & Online Transactions
Understanding how to recognize and avoid digital scams, safely carry out online payments (e-banking), and use basic public digital services such as gov.gr.

3. Basic Financial Literacy
Understanding key concepts of income and expense management, savings, and support in making simple everyday financial decisions.

What is the Digital Autonomy 60+ programme?

It is an innovative programme aimed at enhancing digital autonomy for individuals aged 60 and over. It was created to transform technology into an ally in everyday life, providing the necessary knowledge for the safe and confident use of digital tools—without stress or dependence on others.

What does the programme include?

The programme includes twenty (20) hours of practical training, delivered through ten (10) hybrid sessions (the first session in person and the remaining nine online), covering three main thematic areas:

- Digital Literacy & Communication
- Digital Security & Online Transactions
- Financial Literacy

Who can participate in the programme?

The programme is addressed to individuals aged 60+ who live in Crete and wish to enhance their digital autonomy and become familiar with new technologies.

Is participation in the programme free?

Yes, participation in the Digital Autonomy 60+ programme is completely free of charge.

Who implements the programme?

The Digital Autonomy 60+ programme is an initiative within the framework of  Piraeus’ Corporate Responsibility EQUALL, and is implemented in strategic collaboration with Bizrupt and 100mentors.

How long does the programme last?

The programme lasts ten (10) weeks. Participants will be informed of the exact dates of the sessions.

How will the programme be implemented?

The programme includes two cycles per year. The first cycle consists of two groups. The training of one group will take place in a hybrid format in Heraklion, Crete (at Bizrupt Hub), including both in-person and online sessions, while the training of the second group will be conducted entirely online and is addressed to participants from all over Greece. Each group includes ten (10) weekly training sessions.

How will the programme be delivered?

The programme offers a hybrid learning experience consisting of:

One (1) in-person kickoff session in Heraklion (at the Bizrupt Hub) Nine (9) weekly online sessions.

The address of Bizrupt, where the first session will take place, is: 34–36 Vikela Street, Lakkos area, Heraklion city center.

Do I need special equipment to attend the programme?

For the nine online sessions, you will need a smart device. This can be:

a smartphone
a tablet
a computer or laptop

You will also need internet access so you can attend the training from your own space.

For the first session, it is recommended that you bring the device you plan to use during the online sessions.

Do I need prior knowledge of technology?

Not necessarily. The program provides practical training starting from basic device use (smartphones, tablets, computers), aiming to help participants use technology confidently without relying on others.

What are the next steps after submitting my application?

After submitting your online application (by March 16), the Bizrupt team will review it. A short introductory interview will follow to get to know you and finalize your participation. Final selections will be announced in time before the start of the programme on April 21.
