Description of the Service
1. Piraeus Bank S.A. (hereinafter the “Bank”) provides, through its website www.piraeusbank.gr (hereinafter the “Website”), the “Virtual Assistant” digital assistant service (hereinafter the “Service” or “Digital Assistant”). The Service operates using Artificial Intelligence technology and aims to facilitate users’ communication with the Bank while browsing the Website, by providing answers to queries submitted through the Service.
2. The Service is provided to users over the age of 18 who visit the Website.
3. The Service provides users, immediately and in real time, with access to general, non-personalized information regarding the use of the Website, as well as the products and services offered by the Bank, through message exchange. In particular, the information provided through the Service includes informational content published on the Bank’s official website www.piraeusbank.gr. Such information is standardized and does not relate to the user’s profile or personal information.
4. The Service does not replace personal communication between the User and authorized representatives of the Bank.
5. The use of the Service is subject to these terms (hereinafter the “Terms”), which the User is required to read carefully and accept before using the Service.
6. The Service is provided exclusively for informational and educational purposes. The answers/information provided do not constitute, directly or indirectly, advice or encouragement to carry out any investment or other transaction that may result in financial consequences for the User. The User is responsible for reviewing and evaluating the information provided and acting at their own discretion. The provision of information does not create any obligation or commitment on the part of the Bank to grant a product or provide a service. The Bank bears no responsibility for the User’s use of the Service.
7. The Service operates using Artificial Intelligence technology in order to provide information as quickly and accurately as possible. The Bank makes every reasonable effort to ensure that the information provided is clear, accurate, complete, and, where possible, up to date. However, complex queries may not always be understood, and responses may not always be accurate or sufficient. Therefore, absolute accuracy, clarity, completeness, validity, adequacy, timeliness, and suitability of the information are not guaranteed. The Bank shall not be liable for errors, omissions, deficiencies, inaccuracies, delays, interruptions, or failure of transmission. In the event that any malfunction of the Service is identified, the User may contact the Bank electronically or by telephone, as detailed on the Bank’s official website Contact us | Piraeus Bank, or by any other appropriate means.
8. The Bank does not guarantee or warrant that any information provided through the Service is complete, definitive, or final. All information is provided “as is,” reflecting its status on the Website at the time of access. The User is solely responsible for reviewing the information carefully and verifying its accuracy.
9. The Bank shall take all reasonable measures to ensure the proper functioning of the Service; however, it does not guarantee uninterrupted availability or the absence of errors or technical issues. Any scheduled maintenance or significant service disruptions will be announced on the Website.
10. The Bank shall not, under any circumstances and to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, be liable for any claims, losses, damages, or liabilities, whether direct or indirect, arising from the operation or non-operation of, access to, use of, or navigation within the Service, or from the information provided through it.
11. The Service must be used solely for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms, applicable laws and regulations, and the Bank’s policies and procedures. The User shall refrain from any unlawful or abusive conduct that may adversely affect other Users, the operation of the Service, or the Bank. In such cases, the Bank reserves the right to take any appropriate action.
In particular, the User undertakes to:
(a) refrain from any acts or omissions that may negatively impact the operation of the Service (e.g., transmitting viruses or other harmful code);
(b) refrain from sending messages containing abusive, threatening, offensive, defamatory, terrorist, slanderous, obscene, or false content;
(c) respect the rights of third parties, including the right to privacy (e.g., by not disclosing third-party information without authorization); and
(d) transmit only the information strictly necessary for the purpose of using the Service.
In the event of any malicious or improper use of the Service in violation of these Terms and/or applicable law, the Bank reserves the right to take any measures necessary to protect its lawful rights.
12. The Bank reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to interrupt or suspend access to the Service, in whole or in part, temporarily or permanently, at any time.
13. As part of the Service, the Bank may direct the User to specific links providing information on the Bank’s products and services. In such cases, the User must comply with any special terms applicable to those links as set by the Bank.
14. The Bank reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time at its reasonable discretion.
15. These Terms are governed by Greek law. The courts of Athens shall have exclusive jurisdiction for the resolution of any disputes.
Processing of Personal Data in the Context of the Use of the Service
16. The Digital Assistant does not require personal data to provide responses; therefore, the User should not submit personal information when submitting queries.
17. Even if the User includes personal information in their questions, the Bank implements technical and organizational measures to ensure that personal data are not stored on the server hosting the “Virtual Assistant.” The conversation text during interaction with the Service is subject to an anonymization process. If the User provides third-party data, it is presumed that they have previously informed such individuals and obtained their consent, where required. In addition: (a) the conversation is deleted from the User’s browser once the active session is closed, (b) conversations are stored within the Bank’s infrastructure, following anonymization of their content, for a maximum period of one year, for the purposes of monitoring proper operation of the Service, addressing technical issues, improving the quality and accuracy of responses, and preventing malicious use, (c) data used within the framework of the Service are not transferred outside the Bank’s infrastructure, (d) no automated decision-making or profiling takes place.
18. Data subjects’ rights in relation to the Bank as Data Controller are governed by the information notice “Information on the Processing of Personal Data,” published on the Bank’s website, which supplements these Terms.
19. These Terms are supplemented by the terms of use and privacy policy of the official Piraeus Bank website. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the aforementioned terms of use, these Terms shall prevail as more specific.
