winbank phone banking Security

To ensure maximum security for winbank phone banking, we use cutting-edge methods that safeguard your transactions and protect your data.

Personal access codes

 1.    Personal codes

You can only access winbank phone banking if you enter both the customer authentication codes that only you know:
    • The mobile/landline number you register when you sign up for the service
    • Your Password

If you are calling from the phone number (landline or mobile) that you have registered without hidden caller ID, just type in your Password.

If you are calling from a different phone number or with hidden caller ID, type in the phone number you have registered when you signed up and then your Password.

Your initial Password is the 4-digit PIN of your Piraeus Bank debit card. You can replace this with a 6-digit code of your choice. This 6-digit code will only be valid for winbank phone banking and not for your debit card.

 2.     Password lock

If you enter your Password wrongly 3 times, for your own security, the system will lock your access codes and block your access to winbank phone banking.

To unlock your codes and regain access to winbank phone banking you will need to verify your details. Call the winbank customer service line:
    • From a landline or mobile phone in Greece on 210 32 88 000
    • From abroad on 0030 210 32 88000

 3.     Verification of details

Before carrying out any transaction, Piraeus Bank's representatives verify your details, for your own security.

Transactions with authentication

In order to conduct transactions at winbank, every transaction should be authorized.

Transaction authorization will be performed easily, quickly and free of charge through a push notification* or alternatively with an extraPIN delivered through Viber** or SMS to the mobile phone number you have declared to the bank.

*You receive this code by push notification, if you are a winbank mobile app user and have the notifications enabled in your device and app.

** A prerequisite is to have a Viber account, with the mobile phone number you have declared to the Bank for receiving the extraPIN code. The extraPIN code will be sent to Viber from the winbank account. In case you don’t have a Viber account, or it is not possible for any reason to send you the extraPIN code via Viber, you will continue to receive it on your mobile via Push Notification or SMS. If you don’t want to receive the extraPIN code via Viber, you can exclude winbank from the list of recipients in the Viber app and undo this option at any time.
