New Piraeus Bank Contract Farming agreement for the greenhouse vegetable and grape sectors

With this important new Contract Farming agreement in the greenhouse vegetable and table grape sector, Piraeus Bank is continuing to consistently and dynamically support efforts to bolster the rural economy and improve rural incomes across the entire range of farming activities.

This is the 11th such agreement and the first relating to Crete. It involves partnership with the company L. Pervolarakis – G. Koutsoumbos SA for the production of greenhouse peppers and cucumbers as well as table grapes.

This programme will launch immediately and will provide liquidity to growers so that they can purchase the agricultural supplies needed for their crops in good time. It will then be completed with L. Pervolarakis – G. Koutsoumbos SA purchasing the produce and growers being paid in good time, thereby safeguarding their income and protecting the entire production sector.

Note that through Contract Farming, Piraeus Bank provides growers with insurance for possible loss of crops/livestock due to disease and natural disasters, beyond the insurance provided by the Hellenic Agricultural Insurance Organisation.

The event to mark this agreement was held in Heraklion and was attended by a large number of farmers, growers, cooperative members and key stakeholders from the agricultural produce market. This reflects the popularity of the programme, which has already been successfully implemented in other regions of Greece.
This agreement also offers comprehensive financing solutions, confirming Piraeus Bank’s unwavering commitment to supporting and bolstering endeavours to improve production in the primary sector of economy.
